Peace of mind with Fur Mum Pet CarE

If your pet is part of the family (and let’s be honest, they absolutely are), choosing the right care matters. You want someone who will love them like you do, notice when something feels “off,” and treat them as an individual, not just another booking.

That’s exactly what Fur Mum Pet Care was created for.

We specialise in small dogs and pets who need a calmer, more personal approach, especially those who may feel overwhelmed in traditional boarding kennels or catteries.

The Fur Mum Story

I started Fur Mum Pet Care in 2015 after years of juggling care for my own fur babies while working a Fly-In/Fly-Out job. I hated imposing on friends and family, but I also couldn’t imagine placing my tiny, nervous Chihuahua-mix into a large boarding kennel.

So I decided to create the kind of pet care business I would trust with my own animals.

I had already been fostering dogs for years, so opening my home to more pets felt like a natural next step. Over time, Fur Mum Pet Care grew into a fully dedicated, home-based, cage-free environment focused on comfort, safety, and emotional wellbeing.

In 2020, I upgraded our facilities and moved to 80 Mather Street, Garbutt, allowing for a large, air-conditioned play space that still felt like home.

After several years of living and working in a combined daycare and boarding space, I realised I needed a little separation and more room for the dogs to truly relax. I purchased 8 acres in Bluewater, spending a full year making the home and grounds safe, secure, and enriching before moving in at the end of 2023.

Today, we offer:

  • Pick-up and drop-off for boarding at Mather Street, and

  • A peaceful acreage environment in Bluewater, where dogs spend most of their time exploring, relaxing, and being dogs.

The Bluewater property will continue to evolve over the coming years, with one goal in mind: creating a true small-dog paradise.

Who Fur-Mum Pet Care is perfect for

Fur-Mum Pet Care is a wonderful fit for many of Townsville’s spoiled furry (and feathered) family members, and an especially good fit for pets who need a little extra support.

We have extensive experience with:

  • Anxious or sensitive dogs

  • Pets with mobility issues

  • Administering medication

  • Separation anxiety and behavioural challenges

Helping pets who need extra care is something I genuinely love. Whenever possible, I’m happy to provide additional support at no extra charge, within reason, because every pet deserves to feel safe, understood, and comfortable.

  • "It’s hard to find someone who will look after your pet like you do, but Jen goes the extra yard to make sure your little fur ball is happy and comfortable when your away. It’s nice to have peace of mind knowing that your pets are in great hands."
